Shavuah tov, friends! Blessing you with a wonderful week. I have been reading many questions by people curious as to what constitutes work in regards to the biblical commandment not to work on Shabbat. In order to learn what the bible was referring to when it said not to work on Shabbat, we look at other places in the bible where it uses the word work. Using this method, we learn that the Israelites setting up the Tabernacle in the desert is called work, so that makes any of the things that they needed to do to set up the Tabernacle not allowed on Shabbat. For example: building, straining, setting up a permanent structure, making a fire, dealing with money, etc. Blessing us all with clarity as to what our own personal best way is to serve God on High!
