Shawn Frost has my vote! Parents deserve a voice in what is being taught to our children in government schools. Shawn has demonstrated a strong desire to end the elitist mentality of our current school board and to be more inclusive for parents to determine the type of curriculum and structure they want for their children. The overwhelming emphasis on testing is taking its toll on teachers and students and doesnt do anything to improve their performance. Lets put the fun back in education! VOTE SHAWN FROST FOR SCHOOL BOARD. PASS IT ON TO YOUR PARENT AND GRANDPARENT FRIENDS. Experience and Leadership The TCPALM editorial board endorsed my opponent in a near toss up citing her experience. The voting public should consider the experience when deciding to stay the course. Our district grade has gone from an A down to a C. The taxpayer burden is growing every year. Parents have lost faith in their ability to participate in the overly structured meetings. Teacher morale is at an all-time low due to contract impasse for the past 6 years and an unfair evaluation system. Kids are living in fear from the over-use of high-stakes testing. This is the experience my opponent has brought to the district for the past 8 years. Beyond my unbridled passion, which I thank you for acknowledging, I have a strong resume; especially by comparison. Since this is a job in education, shouldnt we look at that? She has a 2 year degree in Respiratory Therapy and I have an MBA in Leadership. She has a certificate in School Board leadership from a group that sells training. I have a post-grad certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University. Lets look at experience. Yes, shes served on the board for 8 years, but see the first paragraph or anyone who has had contact with the SDIRC for an opinion of the quality of performance. I have built and sold two successful businesses, been a full-time classroom teacher in the district, and helped businesses ranging from a local frozen treat producer to Johnson & Johnson be more successful. I have real-world fiscal and management experience. When it comes to passion and skin in the game, I have two children still in our public schools and feel they deserve better. She doesnt have a personal stake. A lifelong conservative and party member, I also work well with members of other parties. One example is my work with the Green Patrol, but I am able to do it without compromising my conservative values. Weve saved Indian River County thousands of dollars by keeping recycling out of the landfill and did it without ONE PENNY of taxpayer money. I can be interested in being green but the real green movement citizens should be concerned about is the green moving from their bank accounts into the tax collectors office for wasteful spending. Theres only one fiscal conservative in the district 1 school board race; Shawn R. Frost. Its time for more than status quo experience, its time for an upgrade. Its time for the F.R.O.S.T.
