Shira Anthony here again... So, I saw a lot of you like vampires in particular because of the immortality. I totally agree - that is such a fascinating piece of the lore. Theres an extra piece to this in the series, in fact. Hunters were born of vampires who married humans, so they are mortal (although they live longer than normal humans). But an ancient vampire (one born a vampire rather than created from a human) from the ancient race can give a hunter BACK his/her immortality. Its sort of the reverse of creating a vampire: the vampire allows the hunter to drain him of all his blood, then the hunter gives the blood back. Its call the gift, and the hunter becomes incredibly powerful and immortal. An ancient can only give the gift once in his lifetime.
