· Shunte.is walking with her group BGC Socialites.Sickle cell disease has affected their family and community. Several of their family members have suffered with the severe pain and hospitalization, that comes along with this disease. Shunte has lost one of her cousins Lakea, after seeing her suffer for years. The list goes on for her family, including her Cousin Joyce who is 29 and fortunate to have two healthy children. Shunte’s team also has members walking this morning with Sickle Cell Trait. With the help of St. Jude we can help to bring awareness to the community, and have a better understanding of this disease that has had a tremendous effect on our own family.
