Since Ill be leaving for Australia on the 4th, I thought Id - TopicsExpress

Since Ill be leaving for Australia on the 4th, I thought Id contribute some July 4 tribute music a bit early. The music: The award-winning (Florida Orchestra fanfare competition) American Fanfare by James Stephenson, Composer. There is also a version for concert band, commissioned by Dave Alpar. https://soundcloud/james-m-stephenson/american-fanfare The story behind the music: In the late 90s, I was commissioned by a music director for a Catholic church to compose a fanfare for strings, brass and organ to celebrate the 30th year of the church, the 10th year for the priest, and the 10th year for the organist. A year later, Erich Kunzel asked me to orchestrate it, and that same year it won the above-mentioned competition, conducted by Thomas Wilkins. It has since been performed by many more, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the symphonies of Detroit, Baltimore, Omaha, and last year it opened up the Hollywood Bowl season with the LA Phil. Upcoming performances (this weekend) include the Dallas Symphony (Jeff Tyzik) and Ft. Worth Symphony (Andres Franco), among others. Happy Birthday, #USA!
