Since sustainability ethics are vital to this effort, in the course I will draw heavily from the Australian philosopher Peter Singer of Princeton’s book The Life You Can Save: Acting Now to End World Poverty. It is a 2009 book by him. In this book, he argues that citizens of affluent nations are behaving immorally if they do not act to end the poverty they know to exist in developing nations. Vital to this effort is mindful use of fossil fuels and trying to end climate change by evolving technologies, ethical values, and lifestyles that reduce or eradicate reliance on fossil fuels.
