Sixty years in the making. A sad day for the City of Detroit and its residents. Bad for those whose pensions funds are invested and worse for those who rely on a pension from the city. Its darkest before the dawn- I for one hope that if any good comes out of this its that the city can move on and once again grow. The money saved (65 cents on every dollar in interest payments) can be used to restore services, demolish vacant buildings and improve the lives of those still living there. I hope in my lifetime to see a city like the one I remember as a child.
