Slow posting…returned from Chicago Tuesday night. Jenn’s settled in for senior year. Take care of her President “Morty”. Go Wille the WildCat! Now I’ll apologize for embarrassing you Biggie... Hard to believe that 4 years ago (just about this time of year) Jenn and I made the last of our college visits...a trip to St. Louis and Chicago. She seemed happy with Johns Hopkins and Rochester plus maybe a couple of others near the top of her list. I actually thought about bailing on this trip. Jenn wanted something close to home, but insisted that we finish the process we’d started almost 2 years earlier. Good thing we did. Following our 23rd (seriously) visit she declared that she thought she’d apply early decision to Northwestern University. Gulp! That accelerated our plans. Fortunately she was accepted for there were a whole lot of eggs in that little basket. What a BOLD decision on her part and one that has really payed off. With clear vision for graduate school, she’s pushed through some tough times to come out where she wanted. And along the way shes: been exceptionally independent and resourceful…and a public transportation aficionado; had a significant impact on many many students as a peer advisor and PA board member; had a significant impact on the Evanston community through her efforts with Northwestern to Benefit Special Olympics; had an impact on the broader mid-west as a volunteer at the military sports camp for adaptive sports in Chicago; had an awesome internships at the NU medical school working with researchers who ID’d the cause of ALS (something very personal to Jenn and our family); had a great internship in orthotics & prosthetics working with new borns who needed their heads shaped, world-class athletes who needed high-tech, and older folks who just wanted to get on with their lives; “studied” in Copenhagen and Edinborough; And made an impression on several professionals/practitioners while learning from them including an unofficial (but serious) offer to start a graduate program a year early due to her demonstrated interest You’ve done great Biggie! Finish strong and move along. I would not have changed a thing. Love ya and Go ‘Cats! (meow)
