Slowing growth adds to China stimulus pressure Slower growth is not necessarily a bad thing for China, as it is needed to wring out the imbalances that have built up in recent years. The weak first quarter growth figure was anticipated, but we think the economy will now pick up a bit of steam as exports return to growth and infrastructure spending helps to support investment. The official growth target of 7.5% this year is still likely to be undershot, with the supply glut in the real estate sector acting as the main drag.
