So Bobo - a colleague - and I go to KFC in Craighall for some wings and chips a couple of days ago. We opt for the drive through as we need to be back in the office pretty soon. We order and the total is about 87 bucks. I hand over a R100 note and the lady at the window asks me to wait a bit so she can get some change from the other till. Its pretty early, so I understand she might not have made enough money to have the correct change with her. Im on some: Its ok sisi. Keep it, its your tip She and the girl standing next to her say NO at the same time. Last born (Bobo) and I are confused. They explain that they are NOT allowed to accept tips - under any circumstances. WTH!? Arent waiters and the like supposed to make a bit extra because they dont get paid that much to begin with? Is this the KFC policy - that well pay you crap and you cant be tipped for your great service either? And they have the nerve to force these kids to ask for R2 for some charity they claim they are supporting! Isnt charity supposed to begin at home?
