So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was - TopicsExpress

So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Ezekiel 37:1-14 Ezekiel was a prophet during the worst time in Judah’s history and was carried off in exile to Babylon. While there, he used all sorts of visual imagery to help the people in captivity understand God’s purposes and be encouraged in spite of their circumstances. As Ezekiel sought God, he was favored with this amazing vision. There was absolutely no chance that the bones he saw could be anything but a soil improver. They were dry, with no marrow and no sign of life. I doubt that the futuristic technology of Jurassic Park could do anything with these bones! Wisely, when questioned by God as to the chance of the bones living, Ezekiel put the ball back in God’s court and was given the power to prophesy to the bones. As a result of this powerful vision, Ezekiel was able to go back to the people and encourage them that, one day, they would be restored to relationship with God. Sometimes in our lives, it is necessary actively to seek a vision. Our vision may not be something that we literally see with our eyes: in fact, that is probably the exception rather than the rule. What we are seeking, though, is a clear sign from God. Someone told me that if we aim at nothing, we are likely to hit it! So a vision quest should be a definite, intentional time of seeking God for a specific purpose. If you need to know God’s heart for you, is this the time for a vision quest?
