So after yelling at my daughter for giving the outside cats too much food and not changing their exremely dirty water bowl often enough..and Lacie defending herself on how she changes it everyday and that she doesnt understand how they are going through the food so fast....Clarity hit me at 3 a.m. this morning. As I was finishing a movie and starting to doze, I hear someone outside my bedroom (6 feet away from my bed) moving my patio chairs around and picking up the metal food and water bowls, I freeze with fear. Definitely creepy !! When I am finally able to get the nerve to get up, I get my phone and a knife and slowly go peek out the curtain onto my porch. There are 3 large racoons moving chairs around and passing the bowl to each other eating the cat food. They kept putting their paws/hands in the water bowl swishing the water all around.. So I tap on the window, and one comes walking up and taps back at me. The other two watched as the racoon and I played high five through the glass. My outside cats didnt even flinch at their presence. .and the racoons seemed oblivious. Apparently, this wasnt their first midnight snack at my home. This explains a lot. Last few weeks I have been going through 20lbs of cat food within 4/5 days..which should last at least a week.
