So, in 2008 I was backpacking South East Asia and found myself the small port town Sihanoukville, Cambodia for a few weeks. One night some new traveling friends and I were having some drinks at Serindip Bar on on the beach. My ears perked up when I heard a newfoundland accent near by. She was from Mount Pearl and we exchanged emails and travel stories. I lost her email (probably immediately) and didnt see her after that, but still thought it was pretty cool meeting a girl from Newfoundland on the other side of the world. Flashtrack to 2014! Two months ago I had a meeting with the City of St. Johns recreation department regarding Soul Warrior Yoga for Youth and knew I met one of them before but couldnt put my finger on where. Last Friday I was giving a yoga presentation to an elementary school and Krista, the girl Ive been working with at the City, was there. I had my Mala beads that I got in Cambodia and told the class about my trip and how to use them to meditate. After my presentation we had a chat and still no bells are ringing that we met each other years ago on a beach in Cambodia. This morning I got an email from her saying that she realized we were in Asia at the same time and she went back to the blog she wrote while she was traveling and that it was me! The other Newfoundlander! The girl who she had met that night! Im so happy to have reconnected with this completely magical part of my life. #smallworld
