What you DONT do is abandon a living, breathing, feeling animal who has trusted and loved you, you DONT leave them with someone who is irresponsible and wont give them the love they deserve. This is why we are now welcoming another wonderful dog into our family. He will have another chance and sadly for him this will be (as far we know) his 5th home in his only 14 months of life. This will be his last. His name is now Gus. He will have the life he deserves.
