So the other day, my girlfriend told me that I seem to attract all types of people and situations. I just laughed it off.. until the other night. It struck me she may have a point. I was sitting outside Red Rooster, there was a crowd and we had to wait for chickens to finish cooking. I’m sitting alone, minding my business when an old man who I swear looked like Yoda came over and sat across from me. I nodded at Yoda in acknowledgement and smiled. He returned the smile and noted I was rubbing my knee - which was swollen due to the rain - he asked me if I had a sore knee. I responded with a laugh that “I’m getting old”.. Yoda huffed and said “Oh you should embrace your thirties”, Just for the record, I’ve turned forty, but I wasn’t about to correct him. Yoda continued “I remember being young.. Life was all about fast cars, strong liquor and wild women..” I swear his Jedi mind tricks caused me to follow Yoda down memory lane for a few seconds, I could picture him cruising through some town back in the 50’s in some hotted up rod, an open of liquor next to him on the chair and some wild wendy next him to stroking his ego (and whatever else that took his fancy).. I heard myself murmur “Wild women, aye”.. Yoda smiled his toothless smile and added, yeah, the wilder the better… its the quiet ones you see?? a bit like yourself, Im sure you’re a firecracker..” Snap! Whoa there.. I break free of his Jedi mind tricks and wince in pain as I stand suddenly to attention.. “Thats my order Yoda”, I say as I limp awkwardly towards the doors.. Yoda says, “its Eugene”.. Right. Of course. Nice talking to ya” I call back, eager to escape Yoda and his mind powers.. I collect my order and walk back to the car, I chuckle to myself as I think about Yoda/Eugene.. The only place this firecracker is heading is home to feed the MOTH and my cherubs.. I wonder if I could use some Jedi mind tricks on the MOTH this weekend? “You will make me a cup of tea without asking”.. or “You do love doing the ironing and washing”.. or lastly “On Sunday morning, quiet as a church mouse, you will sneak out of bed and prepare my continental breakfast in bed to be ready when I ring the bell”.. What are my chances??
