So this is something Ive noticed lately and its really begun to bother me. The people who post the statuses that say anything along the lines of stop posting sad statuses, get over it, no one cares, etc, etc. No, you stop being insensitive. I saw one particular status today that said I have my own problems and I keep them inside. If I can do it, so can you. Once again, no, you couldnt be more wrong. Not everyone copes the same way, and not everyone can bear their emotional weight alone. Saying If I can keep my feelings inside so can you is the same as saying If I can lift this 300lb dumbbell, so can you. This bothers me for many reasons, one of which being how close things like depression and anxiety hit close to home. Especially with recent focus on things like depression and mental illness. Not to mention the suicide of Robin Williams and the loss of two young lives just one town over from me. A study was done showing that people who tend to be more sad, post more statuses on social media. I encourage it 100%. If it takes someone to comment on your status with some words of encouragement to make you feel better, than please by all means. Even the smallest things can speak volumes to someone with depression. So, the next time you get upset because someone on your friends list posts a sad status, just delete them, because no one needs your negativity anyway. Or better yet, try being just that, a friend because you never know what kind of difference it may actually make. /rant
