So this weekends oceanic misadventure is attempting to continue - TopicsExpress

So this weekends oceanic misadventure is attempting to continue through the week. I swear, Im reminded of the old Hee Haw song that said if it wont for bad luck Id have no luck at all, GLOOM DESPAIR and AGONY on me. I swear, you cant make crap up like this, it would just be so unbelievable. So when we left off at the last installment, the little boat was left sitting on the side of the road with a blown tire. After attempting to find a close tractor supply or a walmart with a tire dept. close to where the tire blew, I decided to just drive back down to Wilmington today to see a customer and then pick up the boat on the way home. So I left this morning, hit tractor supply for a new 69.00 tire, and headed for Wilmington. Saw the boat on the other side of the interstate on the way down, so no one stole it during the night (they would have brought the SOB back after figuring it wasnt worth stealing). Worked at my customers, then headed towards home and the boat. When I pulled up and walked over to the boat, I noticed a grab bar I was going to install sometime on the center console lying on the ground under the boat. Hmmm, I didnt remember putting that there. Looked in, and some skank MF thief had come and stolen ALL my tools that I carried in a small bag. They also took my trolling battery,2 rod and reels, and my cast net. Thats all I know for sure that was stolen, although Im sure there were a few smaller things they didnt get. The rods were old, with old fishing line that wouldnt hold a big fish, and I rarely even used those, but the battery was a good one, and so was my cast net. The biggest loss was my tools. It was a mismatch of items, but I will miss my sockets and wrenches, spare spark plugs, and Im sure there were a few things in there I havent thought of yet. It was packed full, although it was a small bag. They left my flounder gigs, even the new one that was 60 bucks. There was a new gig head in my bag though. As mama asked me, why didnt you take that stuff off the boat before you left it? Well I figured I would be gong back last night, but when I didnt find a tire close by, I just figured hey it will be alright. So here I am pissed off pretty badly. The SOBs luckily missed seeing the ratchet with the socket I was using to remove the lug nuts on the tires, so I was able to get the wheel off. So I used the truck jack to raise the trailer, get the old tire off, and then put the new tire on.....except I couldnt. The jack raised the trailer, but since it has springs, the axle wasnt coming up far enough to put the new tire on, and I couldnt get the jack underneath the axle because it was too low to the ground. So i had to play around with it trying to figure out a way to raise the thing up. I even let some air out of the new tire to lower it some. Finally, I was able to adjust the front of the trailer with the wheel jack, while jacking up the back, and using the tire iron to lift on the boat just enough to get the damn tire on the axle. All the while, I was beating the fire ants that had mounds all around where I was working. Man, did I cuss that boat the whole time. SO, now the tire is on the trailer. Everything is all good to go, so I back the truck closer to the trailer, get out, and lift the tongue to put it on the hitch. It wasnt quite lined up so I pulled the trailer a little more towards the ball. As I did this, suddenly I hear a hissing sound. NO FREAKIN WAY! THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING! The BRAND NEW TIRE has somehow gotten a hole in it and is now completely flat. I have no idea what has just happened to cause this, but now Im just flat out disgusted. I looked at the boat, shook my head, grabbed my gigs, throwed the jack in the truck and left that piece of crap where she was for the second night. So it looks like I will be headed back towards wilmington AGAIN tomorrow. With my luck it will be totaled by some drunk driver in the night, who wont even get scratched, nor will his car be damaged in any way, so that he can drive away without anyone ever knowing who did it. Oh I forgot to mention, while I was putting on the new tire, a short downpour, lasting about 30 seconds, came by and left me soaked. I suspect that will cause pneumonia or at least a nice chest cold that will haunt me for a few weeks. If I thought about it, I guess Id be depressed about how all this crazy stupid stuff keeps happening to me. But I dont dwell on it, and luckily Im just a happy kinda person who doesnt have time to lament about misfortunes. Mama said she and Daddy worry about me a lot because I have bad luck, but at least it isnt really life threatening bad luck,(although when that tire blew it had the trailer doing the Watusi on the highway, and I accidentally got stuck with a gig friday night while packing the boat, which went through my finger in one place and exited in another place, man did that bleed!) so they really ought not to worry too much. And while I might have stuff like this happen to me, I still think about so many other people would kill to be in my place, and have the little bad lucks I have compared to the awful life they have. Always someone who has it worse so count your blessings, right? Anyway......the saga continues....... Id appreciate a little prayer to God asking for me to get this thing home. Never hurts to have some backup. Ive already asked why me Lord? But then I realize how the rest of the song goes, what did I ever do, to deserve such as you, and the blessings Ive known? :) So stay tuned ladies and gents, there is always the chance I could get mowed down by one of the idiots that flies by broken down vehicles when they could very easily change lanes. Several times today I started to act like I was lunging in front of these inconsiderate folks just to scare the heck out of them. But my luck as it is, they would miss me, but wreck and then Id be in jail.....aint nobody got time for that!
