So today I read someone saying that Koreas success is because its people are patriotic and stand firm behind their government and tak burukkan negara depan negara lain. That is patently ridiculous. Then why do Western countries do so well, especially where innovation is concerned? Because unfettered, non-subservient minds are better able to be creative. That is why China does not innovate - it copies. It mass produces. And has one of the most restrictive governments in the world. So if you tell me to stand behind my government, I say no. I love my country, not my government. I do not owe my government devotion or loyalty. The govt owes me and every citizen transparency, good governance and the willingness to serve. So dont tell me to be grateful to our leaders. Are you grateful to your garbageman for cleaning your trash or your hotel concierge for managing your check-in and stay? No. Because theyre paid to do it and our government officials are voted in and paid to do their jobs. And if they fail, they need to and must be sacked. So no, you can stuff your standing firm behind the govt up where the sun doesnt shine.
