He was headed in the direction of Anilin *before* he met Ambrose, so theres no way the assassins could have accidentally thought to find him in Anilin if Ambrose hired them. He assumes its Ambrose because of their feud, but the only major altercations hed had before the caravan was Skarpi getting taken by the church, and his troupe being killed by the Chandrian. *NotW, Ch 69: Wind or Womens Fancy: “We know it’s him,” the tall one said impatiently. “Let’s just do this and have it over with.
