So yesterday, two young men from our community decided to start a fire nearby Jamaca on a neighboring mountain. This time is wasnt even for their crops, but only for malicious intent. Could have been a big disaster. The brush is so dry and the fire moved and spread very quickly. Thank God, before the fire reached the gully between our mountains, the storm came through and put out most of the fire. The fire department was unable to reach the fire because it was on a mountain, and it was too large to put out by man work, with only a few people. Now the mountain will loose its trees there and probably will have some landslides on that side. i really dont understand why someone would do this. The destruction caused by fires here in the DR is huge to the environment. Please help us to stop this.
