Soarin is having a great first day in her new forever home! Shes a sweet heart. Just like any other 1 year old would do, shes definitely testing her limits to see if the rules that applied in Ohio still apply in South Carolina. Shes finding out very quickly that they do. Lol! She hasnt been too naughty, just breaking a few commands here & there. For example I put here in the place command, which means she has to stay on her mutt matt. Its a pretty big area & she has to keep at least two feet on it until I give her the ok to move off of her place. She broke the place command several times so Ive had to give her a correction by gently tugging her training collar while saying No then letting go of the collar & saying place. Every time Ive corrected her, shes immediately gone back into command. Shes trying to be slick though. The past 2 times shes seen me start to get up or come her way for a correction, she puts her self back into the command she just broke. Our instructor, Jeremy, (who makes Cesar Milan look like a cat whisperer, by the way) said that if we get up for a correction, we need to follow through with it, even if the dog corrects themselves first. I feel so prepared for this next chapter because we were taught so well in class. We started Soarin on the pill form of the joint medication today. It was much easier to get her to take it than the powder form was. Keep praying for her hips to stay stable & healthy enough for her to have a long, happy, pain free life with us. Pray that hip surgery wont become necessary. Im so thankful for this pretty little girl dog. Caleb has had a blast today watching her in his own environment.
