Socrates was born 469 B.C. son of a gifted sculptor and a mid-wife... Although Socrates was gifted in dialogue, he did not leave behind any writings; however, his students who were taught in one on one sessions did, including Plato. There are many writings from various verified sources written about Socrates. Verified meaning, the authors were well known and dated to have lived in Greece during the life of Socrates, and corroborated one another. The execution of Socrates is well documented by, and again, validated and verified sources, including a one Phaedo of Elias. There is no reason to question the birth, life, or death, as being notwithstanding the Socratic Problem, of Socrates. Do you know which well-known historical figure we cannot say this about, because his entire life exists in one collection of books, of which the sources cannot be verified, the collection consists of known frauds and pseudepegraphy, no other historical figure wrote an eyewitness account of this persons life or death, even the stories of his birth, life and death conflict, and his legacy exceeds the realm of logic and rationalization.
