Some more irony for the day... The other night I was on my lunch break at work. Was towards the end of my shift, so I was still in uniform. I went to Chilis and while eating my dinner, two teenagers came in and sat a couple tables from me. They were maybe 16-17 years old and it was fairly obvious they were out on a date. The restaurant was pretty empty, so I could hear bits and pieces of their conversation. It was refreshing to hear him being a gentleman to her instead of how we see a lot of men treating women on calls we go to. Being in uniform has its advantages sometimes as random strangers will buy us dinner to say thank you for what we do. Lately I have been trying to pay it forward, especially at restaurants that give us free/discounted food. Ive been paying my bill, but asking the restaurant to give the next random citizen a free meal instead. So I decided to pay for the teens meal as a nice gesture and figured it probably wasnt something they have had done for them. After paying their tab, I left the restaurant. When the teens asked for their bill, they were told by CJ that the officer sitting near them had paid for their meal. They were happy and even left CJ a $20 tip! So youre asking where the irony comes in? I also found out that they were a nervous wreck when they were sat near me because they had just smoked a huge bowl before they came in. They were freaking out that I was going to smell it... Fortunately for them I was sitting right by the kitchen entrance and was basking in the aroma of fajitas from the grille. Would I have paid their bill had I known? Probably not... but paying for the munchies of a stoner while in uniform... priceless!
