Some people want you to zoom out and focus on your insignificance, - TopicsExpress

Some people want you to zoom out and focus on your insignificance, your imperceptible size in a seemingly infinite universe. But whats the purpose of that? So you throw your hands up in defeat at even the smallest, most conquerable obstacles? Instead, see yourself as a behemoth, because even the littlest things you do for someone or something can have astronomical impact. You are important. You have the power to change history all by yourself, so why not be remembered for all the good things you do every day? Do some good things. Be kind to the nasty person at work. Hold the door open for someone. Carry a heavy pumpkin out to your neighbors car. I woke up today thinking about how many people would have scared that cat away, screamed at it, ignored it, not given it a second thought. And its raining, and all I could think of was how glad I was that the poor little animal was getting love instead of wet. Some people would say I gave that cat too much weight, that I let its welfare stress me out. But its not the cat—its all animals and people. I weep over road kill. I can still smell the gamey musk on my hands from the deer I tried to get out of the road two years ago. Why dont more people care? Would they care if they had time to care? If they wouldnt be late for work or dinner? Because this is all the time there is, my friends. You dont get extra. In fact, you get less and less every day. So what will it take for us to care about whatevers been born to this world right now? Even if youre hoping to get into your vision of heaven some day, wouldnt that help you get there? This is probably too heavy a message for a hump day. I think the words of Rabbi Hillel were probably enough: If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
