Some tips on not how to be an asshat. 1. If you have already left your boy/girlfriend and are coming back to pick up your stuff, dont come with attitude. Things will go smoother. 2. If your name isnt on the deed, you pay no bills and you have only lived there a year dont scream that you are allowed in the house and the homeowner cant do anything about it. You are wrong. a. You havent lived there long enough to be commonlaw wife or husband. b. When you left you abandoned your dwelling and therefor have no rights to get any of your stuff back unless you can prove it in small claims court. c. Citing what people have told you does not in fact make anything you are saying true. 3. Dont call the police several times before you even get there and make yourself sound like a lunatic. When the homeowner then later calls the police in a calm fashion and states that your ghetto sister is causing a scene and threatening to have more people show up, the police are going to be on the homeowners side. And they know the abandonment laws and will enforce them. 4. If you have a loud-mouthed ghetto crazy sister. Dont bring her, just dont. She WILL NOT help the situation. 5. If you do have a guy friend show up, dont run your mouth that he is going to be intimidating. He will likely get nervous at being put into a situation that he does not want to be in. The calm homeowner and the big scary friend standing next to him will just wind up feeling sorry for your dude because they know he isnt going to step up, doesnt want to step up and is only there to help you lift shit out of the front yard. As an additional note, apparently I am big, scary, mean and have scary tattoos. It has to be true because that is what the laughing police officer told me after he talked to the ex that was trying to get the stuff back. We both shared a good laugh at that. My homeowner friend offered him a beer. Sadly he had to decline.
