Someone Tweeted me saying someone is talking derecho next week... goodness... OK so lets look: Just a FAST glance at the newest American and Canadian model DO show a large system in the Midwest - going NORTH OF US - with a cold front like structure with some strong, possibly severe storms late Tuesday into Wednesday. But nothing is point out the d word at this point - not HERE anyhow. Again, people have their own thoughts and reasons but I know the mere mention FLIPS PEOPLE OUT. Im not here to be Joe Positive or poo-poo things just to play a role - but I dont see that kind of deal here. SevereT-storms from a strong line of storms? OK - fair game. But the big complex kind of storm that can do that kind of wind damage is well north of us on these models and not moving in. I double checked NWS discussion too and they said some sever storms are fair game but there was NO mention of the word derecho anywhere. The model I cant show (European due to contracts) shows even weaker conditions. IF things change we will certainly keep you on top of it. In the meantime Im on the road till Monday.
