Sometimes I get asked… What starts you off on a song idea and how does your Lead Guitar part seem to be a voice too? Usually I might just have picked up my Farrington or the EJ acoustics and just be flailing around with no intent and something will just jump into the middle of my thought processes, other times I may have been listening to some recorded music and a grove from a particular song will imbed itself in my subconscious and I end up morphing it into something that ends up driving itself into a new idea. What about the guitar playing, the Lead in your songs… Well, that’s an interesting question because in never goes down the same way twice…it kind of depends on the rhythm of the song and how the vocals interplay…Lead guitar is an expression the way I use it…in this case it has to compliment the whole track but it has to stand on its own, either in the background or the forefront of the song.
