Somewhat disappointed in the responses around closing schools, though I know what a hot button issue this is. At the very least - we should be exploring how numerous civic services can combined within schools in our small communities where the number of students makes it nearly impossible to keep the school open from a pedagogical, financial or structural point of view. The days of building hockey rinks and other recreational facilities in areas that are nowhere near a school ought to come to and end. And our school buses would make awesome public transportation vehicles for nonprofits and for low income people in a cost-shared way when they are not in use during the day.
