The other 2 are usually put down. Oh and if they are all black mix breed, most are just put down because they are extra hard to place. Did you know that black dogs and cats are very hard to adopt out. They are overlooked by pretty colored animals. Some folks believe black animals are evil and bad luck. The others will end up at a shelter at some point. 1 might have a chance of finding a home. Did you know that some shelters will not adopt out animals over the age of 5 yrs. Why, you might ask. Because when folks are coming to look for a companion pet, they view 5 yrs as middle age and they want as many years possible with their new family member. If you are feeding a stray cat, then it is not a stray. It is yours. You have taken on the responsibility of feeding it. Then take the responsibility to spay/neuter it. If you have any dogs or cats, then please spay/neuter them. Maybe your dog is in a fenced in yard, but that does not mean another dog could not jump the fence for a hook up. Help prevent unwanted litters. Health reasons to spay neuter.. Female- prevent uterine infections and breast cancer which are fatal in about 50% dogs and 90% cats. No bloody mess to clean up when there is a heat cycle. Male- help prevent testicular cancer and he wont want to run and find a mate. Most unneutered dogs and cats may mark their territory by spraying. Neutering them also helps with some aggression problems if done early. And dont use the excuse of what my kids to see the miracle of birth. There are so many videos and books they can learn from. If you are willing to let them see the miracle of birth, then how about the sadness of death when there are too many animals at the shelters and they have to be put down. Go to your local animal shelter and see the number of animals there. Ask about their intake numbers, adoption numbers, euthanasia number.
