Speak The Truth About Others Thou shalt not bear false witness - TopicsExpress

Speak The Truth About Others Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Exodus 20:16 Im going to tell! Giving testimony-false or true-against our neighbor begins when we are small children. Honesty and telling the truth is usually the first moral issue that children grapple with. In this verse, God commands us to not give false testimony about our neighbor-saying that someone did something wrong when they didnt. This was such a serious offense to God that in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 19:17-19) the punishment for someone who gave false witness was that whatever the witness intended to happen to the party accused would be done to him. Talk about motivation to tell the truth! Our God is very patient and long-suffering with His dishonest children, but He calls us to a higher standard! --Willie Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your constant truthfulness and integrity. Thank You for forgiveness, if we ask, after being tempted to be dishonest. I remember the game of Gossip we played as children. The more the story was shared around the circle, the more the story grew until it was nothing like when it began. This was a lesson we learned early in life. When we told something, it was never repeated the same way! Help us not the elaborate on the truth. Lord, I thank You for the wonderful weekend of blessings and fellowship. The weather was perfect for all our activities! We give You the praise and honor for all the blessings, especially the ladies that accepted You as their Savior yesterday. Lord, I continue to ask Your blessings on all that know You, love You, and keep Your commandments. Please be with those that are sick, those in rehab, especially Coach Bowlin, and those in hospitals, nursing homes and the homebound. I lift up Zac, David, Anne, Holly, Travis, their families, and others in need today. Please continue Your protection of our children, teachers, our military, their families, missions & missionaries, fire and policemen, and any one in harms way in our community, our nation, and our world. I pray for our president, other world leaders and the ISIS group. You know their needs, and please change their wants. Please forgive me if I fail in any way, especially if I am judgmental of anything. You are the judge of all things and I thank You for Your forgiveness when we ask. I ask all these requests in accordance with Your Will. In my Savior, Jesus Christs Name, I pray....
