Sr journalist Ashok Malik explains Dr Swamy Vs IIT Delhi case Have no idea about veracity of ToI story, but it needs to be said Swamys sacking by IIT Delhi in December 1972 was patent vendetta. Swamy was given a letter at 5.15 and told he had been sacked at 5.00 pm. His wife, who taught maths at IIT-D, was also sacked. Swamys only fauly was he had criticised Indira Gandhis budget and economic policies. He went to court and won his case in 1991. Then Swamy was reinstated. He re-joined for a day and then resigned. He then filed for compensation and arrears. Its been 23 years since Swamy won his legal case against unfair dismissal, surely he (or anybody) deserves compensation by now? One may agree or disagree with Swamys politics, but his case against unfair dismissal by a politicised, 1970s-era IIT-D is water-tight. sfy.co/j07Tz
