Stage One Theatre Productions will be staging ‘Sitting in - TopicsExpress

Stage One Theatre Productions will be staging ‘Sitting in Limbo’ by Dawn Penso and Judy Hepburn. The performers, Lauretta Hackett, Amanda Cumberbatch and Philip Eno are all talented, seasoned actors. The play will be directed by Jo-Ann McCabe and produced by Margaret Williams. Sitting in Limbo” tells the tale of two women, poles apart in every way, who are thrown together in a little house - one a prisoner, Yvonne, and the other her jailer, Nita. Although the names have been changed, Phyllis Coard and the story of the 1983 Grenadian coup d’etat form the basis of this piece, focusing on women in politics in the Caribbean. Spanning a period of seven years, these two spar with each other emotionally and, sometimes, physically but gradually come to understand and care for each other. It is a piece of history, written with sensitivity, humour, and conviction. Fascinating! The performances will be on Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th February at 7p.m. at the Walcott Warner Theatre, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, University of the West Indies. We are also staging a special ‘Get Home Before Dark’ performance on Sunday 9th at 3p.m. specifically for B.A.R.P. members and others who do not wish or like to drive after dark. Tickets are $30.00 each ($10.00 for students with I.D.) They can be obtained from ticketpal and all Ticket Pal outlets. We hope to have the AUTHORS, Dawn PENSO and Judy HEPBURN with us to meet you after the show on Friday night. They will also attend a Q & A session at the special schools performance on Thursday 6th Feb at 1p.m. (for 4th, 5th and 6th formers) If you need any further information please contact Mrs. Vicky Merrick (vmerrick@caribsurf or Tel: 432 5539) who will be happy to assist you. Thanking you in advance for your support. Yours Sincerely, Margaret Williams Producer Stage One Theatre Productions
