Starting Sunday, the north and west ends of town will be understaffed by firefighters for the next two months. An overtime budget strained by firefighters out on disability is prompting city officials to schedule only two-man crews at Station 2 at 1420 Maple St. This reduction, from a three-man crew, means that the north-end firefighters won’t be able to rescue someone from a burning building until more firefighters arrive.
