Streetfest 2014 Primer I am counting down to Streetfest 2014 by showcasing a few of the agencies and organizations that have already said that they were coming this year. These organizations will be providing... plenty of good information to you when you come out an join us this year at Streetfest! Today I have chosen United Way 211. According to their website, and I would encourage you to go and check the site out, heres what United Way 211 does: 2-1-1 is a phone number that connects people with important community services. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) assigned 2-1-1 nationwide as the phone number to dial for help with health and human services. Nearly 283 million people have access to 2-1-1 systems in 50 states, plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico. The thing I found fascinating about their website was the reporting section. The reports show you just who they help. Men and women and children who call for help themselves or have friends or family call to get them some direction to get help. Their services even extend to agencies, like Child Support, who try to direct a client to better services that may meet their needs. The reports also showed the types of requests and the cities they get calls from. From Cleveland to Strongsville and Streetsboro to Gates Mills across to Bay Village and Westlake, United Way 211 seems to offer help to everyone here in North East Ohio.
