Students study aviation, aeronautics in Philippines Source: The National, Monday August 19th, 2013 PAPUA New Guinea students are taking up studies in the Philippines’ premier institutions for aeronautics and aviation. Engineering and business courses are offered by the top universities in the Philippines. This year, eight PNG students enrolled in one of Cebu’s top aviation schools, Indiana Aerospace University (IAU). These students are Clayton Basua, Duane Chan, Jonathan Daimo, Wayne Joe, William Mathias, Lloyd Simango, Darren Clyde Yaga and Trevor Yuakra. These students are being trained to be part of the professional manpower in aeronautics and aviation-related fields anywhere in the world. “IAU is a good schooling environment with friendly teachers and students enhancing the ability to learn,” Yaga, who is taking up bachelor of science in avionics, said. “We are being taught by pilots and engineers who are in the aviation field. Despite being a foreigner in the school, it’s easy to get along and adapt to the type of learning IAU is a well-established university located near the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Philippines’ second busiest airport which has direct flights from Port Moresby. It is also one of the top 20 airports in the ASEAN region in 2011. IAU continues to lead in producing professionals with programmes in aircraft maintenance technology, avionics, aerospace engineering, airline management, aviation technology, hotel and restaurant management and tourism and travel.
