Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Hartford, Dr. Dale R. Hoyt, announced that Mrs. Maria Testa, our beloved Principal, has been named as the 2014-2015 Archdiocesan Distinguished Catholic School Administrator. Mrs. Testa will also be nominated for national recognition as a potential Distinguished Elementary School Principal (Region 1), an award given by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). Mrs. Testa’s ties to Saint Stephen School began when she herself was a student here. Her two children, Christina and Tony, are alumni of Saint Stephen School. During their years here, Mrs. Testa served on the school board. The tradition continues with her granddaughter, Maria, now a First Grader! She taught here for many years before becoming Principal in 2000. “Maria Testa’s quiet dedication to Saint Stephen School and its students provides an exceptional model for other administrators.”, says Dr. Hoyt. ” She continually strives to provide students with an excellent educational experience in an environment rich with Catholic identity and Gospel values. Mr. Hoyt will officially present Mrs. Testa with the 2014-2015 Archdiocesan Distinguished Administrator Award in January during Catholic Schools Month. On behalf of the faculty and staff at Saint Stephen School, we congratulate Mrs. Testa on this well deserved honor.
