TALENTED SINGER/SONGWRITER KATHLEEN TURNER LAUNCHES HER DEBUT EP AT DOLAN’S WAREHOUSE, LIMERICK……… Tyrone-born Kathleen Turner has fast gained a reputation in Limerick as a jazz and soul singer of repute. Following two sell-out gigs in Dolan’s, the 32-year old singer-songwriter launches her much-awaited debut EP at her upcoming gig in Dolan’s Warehouse, on Saturday 10th May. Kathleen’s unique vocal style has been inspired by a wide range of music, from Joni Mitchell to Aretha Franklin, from folk to gospel. Her trump card is her unique delivery in making every song sound as if it is a privately shared confidence. Immersed in music and story-telling from a young age, Kathleen takes inspiration from her homeland and the influences of her sister Juliet Turner, in her songs. Her lyrics incite dialogue, instill hope and simply entertain, with strong hooks and memorable melodies in ‘Panic’ and ‘On the Floor’. The title track ‘Some Stories’ is hugely popular among those who’ve heard Kathleen perform live. Turner’s fantastic backing vocal band is the powerful 10-voice ensemble, EVE. Kathleen will be joined in Dolan’s by a host of superb musicians, some of whom feature on the EP. Traditional musicians Cillian O’Dalaigh, Kieran Munnelly, Thomas Johnston, and Leading Armies guitarist, Mike Hogan join jazz musicians Boris Hunka and Peter Hanagan, alongside the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Diane Daly for this very special gig. She has immersed herself in the Limerick music scene since 2006. Following successful appearances in Crooning at Christmas with singer Liam O’Brien, Kathleen ventured into music theatre, performing successful roles with Bottom Dog Theatre in Killer Kabaret and Lola Montez, the very popular burlesque show. Kathleen’s passion for music extends beyond the stage. A successful educator-come-facilitator, she manages the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s highly regarded Sing Out With Strings programme which works with over 300 Limerick children. She teaches at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, and has directed many choirs including the Limerick Gospel Choir, Eve, the Sing Out With Strings Choir and more. Don’t miss the amazing Kathleen Turner singing at Dolan’s Warehouse on Saturday 10th May. Doors are at 8:30pm tickets available at dolans.ie (€10 euro ). Support by Patrick O’Brien.
