TEAM Work ! I would like to thank every one who rode , rideclosertofree.org training ride ,Sunday , August 31,2014.What added to the whole experience, was the wonderful Team spirit As one of the Ride Marshals for the event, I enjoy leading and helping my fellow riders. Around 15 miles into the ride, I suffered a flat rear tire. We have all experienced this . In a group ride, it was nice that everyone waited.What should have been an easy fix,became more complicated.Apparently , the tire suffered a cut on the side wall ,that wasnt visible when the tire was deflated. Under those conditions,unless you car a spare tire with you, you need a lift back home.I would like to give Special Thanks , to Kevin Watzl, fellow ride leader and marshal. Keith happened to have with him , a piece of old tire carcass. We inserted it into the damaged tire.It WORKED !! I rode cautiously , at first to make sure it would hold I was able to complete the rest of the 71 mile route. Those of you who know and ride with me know I rarely suffer a flat or mechanical on a ride. Im often the one lending assistance. I greatly appreciate the help today , and look forward to co-leading and marshaling 100 mile ride this Saturday, Sept 6, 2014
