THE MONTH OF ENDEAVOUR. Shaytan makes good deeds look like a mountain to climb, something difficult to do and attain. When in fact doing good deeds is the opposite to this notion. For example, people tend to think, especially in the UK, these days fasting will be difficult as it is long days. This is not true, as there is the same 24 hours in a day as there is in winter. Only thing is the sleeping hours are different. Where in winter a person may have slept 7/8 hours in one straight long nap. In the summer this is slightly different, has person will be sleeping 3/4 hours before going to work. Then after work, as he will be fasting until magrib, he can sleep another few hours to make up for the loss earlier. Then wake up and pray asr this will compensate anyones lack of sleep. It is mentioned in the books that the pious would say Endeavour, endeavour, endeavour, to change your routine in Ramadan. Meaning, if people have a set routine to which they are accustom to outside of Ramadan, then in Ramadan a person should change this for betterment. If the usual habitual routine of someone is, they commit sins, pray and then do sins again. Or, If a person has the habit to spend time in front of the TV, kitchen or couch all day. Then he should cut this routine especially in Ramadan. It is only then a person will have the the upper hand against the big devils as they have been locked up in Ramadan.
