THE POWER OF LOVE IN THE CHURCH, ON THE WORLD: 1Cor.13:1-8, 13. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Love is powerful and important. Without genuine love all our religious activities and profession will be vain. Whatever gift a man professes to have if he does not have love all the spiritual gifts is nothing. Generosity and giving of arms if there is no really love behind it is not acceptable in the sight of God, this why we are commanded let all your things be done with charity. 1Cor.16:14. Col.3:14. Love is powerful and will always open all close doors. PARDONING LOVE FROM GOD: John.3:16-17; Rom.5:1-11; John.15:13; 1John.3:16; 1John.4:9-10; Eph.5:25-28; Rev.1:5-6; Jeremiah.31:3. The first thing we must do before we can manifest the power of love is to receive the pardoning love from God. When we receive this pardoning love it will result into the following. (1) Forgiveness and freedom from sin. (2) Reconciliation and righteousness of life. (3) Peace with God and peace of mind. (4) Freedom from guilt and condemnation. (5) Power of son-ship and assurance of being a member of the family of God. (6) Witness of the Holy Spirit in our heart and our name written in the book of life. (7) A total change and transformation in our life and character. PURE LOVE AT HOME AND IN THE CHURCH: 1Peter.1:22-23; John.13:34-35; 1John.3:11-18; 1John.4:7-8, 11-12, 16-21; Gal.5:13; John.15:9-10; Eph.5:25-28; Hebrews.13:1. Pro.15:17; Songs of Sol.8:7.The Lord expects us to manifest pure love one toward another at home and in the church. Where there is pure and un-pretended love at home and in the church there will be the following. (1) Peace and unity. (2) Caring and comfort. (3) Forgiveness and forbearance. (4) Faithfulness and openness. (5) Support and lifting up. (6) Power and answer to prayers. (7) Blessings and the presence of the Lord. Pure love is love without lust and fleshly desire. Pure love is love without selfishness. Pure love is love without ulterior motive. Pure love is love without any string attached. Pure love is God’s kind of love. It is Christ-like in nature. It is sacrificial in action. PRACTICAL LOVE TOWARD ALL MEN: Luke.10:27-37; Rom.13:8-10; Gal.5:14; 1Peter.3:8-11; Rom.1:14-16; Lev.19:18, 33-34. The Lord our God wants us to show practical love toward all people saints and sinners. This kind of love will make us to (1) preach the gospel to them with the aim of leading them to salvation. (2) Visit and care for them. (3) Pray fervently for their salvation. (4) Invite them to fellowship and integrate them in the fold. (5) Encourage them to continue in the fellowship of true believers. (6) Indentify with them in their afflictions and in their joys. Rom.12:15. (7) Avoid compromise and sin and to speak evil of none.
