TOP #15 COMICS that I will never stop talking about: (especially for my non-comics friends!) Thanks for nominating me Christopher Stewart! Ive included everything from childhood favorites to a few racy titles and some manga. Dont spend too long thinking about it! Feel free to ask to borrow any of the below! I wanna share the love! 1) UNDERSTANDING COMICS by Scott McCloud -- I have to put this first for anyone who makes that face when I bring up comic books as something Im passionate about. As any comic fan will know, constantly having to justify your medium as just as important and full of variety in the world of storytelling as books and movies can be extremely tiring. Whenever anyone tries to question the legitimacy of comics: I THROW THE BOOK AT THEM. Specifically? This book. 2) I KILL GIANTS by Joe Kelly & JM Ken Niimura -- An incredibly poignant story that was drawn in a sketchy way that I loved. The art style reminded me of Gainax fight scenes and the story build and reveal was just as good. Really got me back into appreciating indie titles after the new 52 got me down. 3) GREEN MANOR: THE INCONVENIENCE OF BEING DEAD by Fabian Vehlmann and Denis Bodart -- The artwork is like beautiful caricatures telling the kinds of creepypasta stories I loved as a kid. 4) NIGHTWING (Scott Snyders run) -- The first superhero ongoing that I really felt perfectly balanced funny and dramatic the way B:TAS did. 5) AMERICAN VAMPIRE by Scott Snyder -- The best kind of ensemble balancing story that reminded me of Anne Rices orchestrations in the vampire genre, while remaining a bit Alan Moore in its cynicism. And a visual style like no other. 6) OH MY GODDESS! by Kosuke Fujishima -- The manga that made me realize what the manga style was really capable of and how to keep a love story going so long and not get boring. His art was the first style I really looked to aspire to. 7) CALVIN & HOBBES by Bill Watterson -- For every reason. 8) WATCHMEN by Alan Moore -- I did it thirty-five minutes ago.
