TRAPPED IN A PATTERN OF PAIN WHERE NO ONE CAN HELP. If youve been abused, you may have felt this. In a society that has traditionally, and to some degree still does believe that violence in the home is a private matter and men were the authorities to do whatever they wish there, women and children were abandoned unless friends or family stepped in. But often friends and families look the other way because they dont want to interfere. Parents as authorities trumps the belief one should step in for the safety of the child. Marriages between couples are seen as something for themselves to work out in private….and when advise is given, it is usually along the lines of calming the storm which is woefully misinformed about what can actually happens when violence goes unchecked and unstopped in a home. Consider who in your life is living in a situation where they are being harmed in some manner and ask yourself, Can you help end violence in our society…maybe in your own home?
