Thanks for letting me join. I want to tell you about my husbands 2nd cousin, Colonel George L. Robinson, who led the 306th in combat. He flew a total of 26 missions by the time he was transferred back to the USA. In his missions he always flew in the left seat, as he preferred to be at the controls of his own plane while leading increasingly larger formations. He was the longest serving CO of the 306th Bombardment group during WWII. He said, The greatest honor ever accorded me was my authorization as Air Commander, which made me eligible to lead the entire Eighth Air Force in combat. Pics- after the raid over Rotterdam and Hamm.
