The 5th Season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Gift was promoted by The WB as The WB Series Finale rather than a season finale. Well months before the finale conflict between Joss Whedon,20th Century Fox and The WB Network started over The WB not increasing the cast and crews salary so Joss Whedon and 20th Century Fox turned to UPN as a last resort and they picked up Buffy for 2 more seasons and 44 episodes and a $2 Million Deal when The WB refused to do it. Also from what I heard Joss wanted the 5th Season to be the last, Had buffy ended after the 5th Season we wouldnt have the Buffy/Spike relationship.
