The Capture Of Energy Prehistoric Man discovers fire and learns how to harness the way it offers heat for comfort and cooking. Then... a few years later... along comes science (the continued exploration of reality) and this discovery of fire remains at the heart of our endeavours - because the ability to capture energy continues to be the holy grail of power. The Truth Behind The Energy Lie youtu.be/0K2wm8tn088 For those who are interested... the science that lead to this has followed an interesting journey (which may seem fraught with political intrigue) from the use of fossil fuels to hydro (etc) energy sources. A Bank of Solar Power All the energy in fossil fuels such as, oil, gas, and coal originally came from the sun, captured through a process called photosynthesis. Fossil fuels are burned to release the energy that plants captured from the sun many years ago. This means the energy resource found in fossil fuels has been deposited in a kind of natural solar power bank over a long period of time. Essentially... gasoline-burning cars, coal-burning power plants, and homes heated by natural gas are all solar powered! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis Taking Without Giving We are withdrawing oil, gas, and coal from our natural bank of solar power without making any deposits. These fuels take a long period of time to form. Near Freiburg, Germany, the wooden piles which had supported the weight of a wooden bridge were found to have turned partially into coal when work commence to replace the wood with steel. This shows that coal formed within the hundred year span of the railroad era. However, experiments in recent years show that wood or other cellulose type material, under the proper conditions of pressure and heat, can be converted into coal or coal-like products in a matter of hours. ...but this is for the creation of coal-like products and says nothing about the way oil is formed. Therefore, after we use all the available deposits it will be difficult for future generations - unless alternative sources of energy can be harnessed. https://christiancourier/articles/1318-record-buried-in-coal-the Energy From The Past (Carbon Dioxide) Another problem with our heavy use of fossil fuel is associated with the release of carbon dioxide. By burning fossil fuels, we are not only consuming energy that has been stored for a million years but also releasing carbon that has been stored into the atmosphere. This release of carbon (dioxide) is nudging the natural cycles that balance the amount of carbon dioxide in the air - and as such we are facing a situation where we, as a specie, must take responsibility for the ecological equilibrium that sustains our planet. Granted... a volcano can release thousands of tonnes in one eruption - and cause significant problems: but the cycle of carbon dioxide has a way of naturally balancing. We need to understand the way this happens - because we could shift in the opposite direction of not having enough carbon dioxide, in the atmosphere, if we embark on a carbon crusade: in the name of global warming. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change Alternative Energy (Sources) Switzerland have devised ways to harness the natural heat source within the Earths core (that is generated by the gravitational fluctuation of the Moon) by drilling deep enough to plumb piping that can capture this natural source. We are making advances in technology such as solar power, wind turbine, wave energy that capture energy. The most advanced is in the area of physics that use nuclear (which has significant issues) and cold fusion - not to mention the gravitational field work that has resulted in creating mini black-hole. We shall have to wait and see how this pans out. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_energy en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_energy
