The Christian life begins with Gods love. He loves us and draws us to himself, and we begin to follow him. But often were tempted to serve God and others out of our own strength. As if were saying to God, Thanks for saving me, now let me serve you with the best Ive got. Thats a great thought, but we tend to forget that our ability to serve God and others has to come from Gods love put on display in our lives. His love is not simply the door into the Christian life, its also the power source. We cannot serve him effectively in our own strength. We have to depend on the strength of his love. If we begin to serve out of that reality, those we are serving will truly see Gods love at work in us. And thats more compelling than anything we can do out of our own strength.
