The Counsellor has some fine moments - its hard to fault the cinematography and design for example, the deaths are very effective - but overall its convoluted, overlong and with a total dearth of sympathetic characters with which the audience can engage. And then theres Cameron Diaz humping a Ferrari windscreen. Graphic only in the verbal description (catfish). The audience roared with laughter at a sequence that was so insanely misjudged and misplaced that one begins to ponder Ridley Scotts infallibility. The sequence would have been at home in a Quentin Tarantino pic, but had no place here. In short, Id give it a miss. (full review to follow).
