The Dawson Daily News Postcard Story Competition The Dawson City Community Library and Klondike Institute of Art & Culture (KIAC), as part of the 2nd annual Dawson Daily News Print & Publishing Symposium, is pleased to announce that submissions are being accepted for its inaugural Postcard Story Competition. We’re looking for the best story of up to 150 words in the English language on the theme of Up North. It can be humorous, dramatic, poetic … it’s up to you and your creativity. Grab a postcard, write your 150-word submission (legibly, please), and send it to us. Award: $250 and 100 printed postcard copies for the winning entry. The winning entry will also be published in the Klondike Sun. The three best entries selected by our jury will be presented aloud at a reading during this year’s Grand Ole Soapbox at the Palace Grand Theatre on August 18th. Eligibility: This competition is open to all. Story must be previously unpublished, fiction or nonfiction. Deadline: August 15. All entries must be received by KIAC by 5 p.m. on August 16th. Please keep in mind that snail mail can take several days to reach Dawson City. There is no entry fee other than your own postage costs. HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES Submissions will be accepted in hardcopy form on only. Hardcopy entries should be handwritten or printed legibly on any standard sized post card Include your name, phone number, e-mail address, and story title on the postcard. Only one entry per person is allowed. To be eligible, hardcopy entries must be received by 5 p.m. PDT on August 16, 2013.
