The Evidence: By Brian Hollop Part I Bailiff: All rise for the honorable Judge Heat. Narrator: The Judge walked into the courtroom and took her seat. The people in the court sat down and took their space. The judge began to speak to present the next case. Judge Heat: The next case is docket #11C-301 The people vs Mr. Sun. This is a case under the new condition. The defendant is being accused of being a Christian. The defense pleaded not guilty but we will soon see. If there is enough evidence to deny Mr. Sun mercy. In order to determine the course of this plan. We will first have the prosecutors take the stand. Narrator: The prosecuting attorney got up from his seat. Attorney Mr. Burn started to address the court with his beat. Mr. Burn: Members of the jury. This case you will agree is not blurry. Let us look at the evidence starting with A. Look at this Bible where it lay. Inscribed in this Bible is the defendant’s name. This by itself supports my claim. This Bible was found enclosed in one of the nooks. This was up upon a shelf among his books. I got more evidence to allow you to see. I got a witness that saw him in a church on one knee. This witness will confirm my win. Please send Former Pastor Torch in. Narrator: In came a guard with Pastor Torch with his arms in a chain. He too was accused for being a Christian in Jesus’s name. They took him before every woman and man. And put him up on the stand. Mr. Burn: Pastor Torch, question # one. Have you seen in your church Mr. Sun. Pastor Torch: I must confess. The answer is yes. Wayne Sun was in my church every Sunday. He would just stay for the service than run away. Mr. Burn To expose this Christian, I did my best. This case is closed, the prosecution rests. Narrator: The prosecutor, Mr. Burns finished addressing Judge Heat. He went to his table and sat back in his seat. Everyone was convinced that Mr. Sun would die. But the defense attorney got up. It was Mr. Fry. Mr. Fry: The fact that Mr. Sun is a Christian is a big lie. After hearing my case, I think you will comply. To prosecute my client as being a Christian is unjust. Take a look at this Bible and on it all of this dust. This Bible has not been recently read. Is it for this, that Mr. Sun should be dead? Hidden on a shelf this Bible was found. If it was read, on a table or dresser this would be around. Keep listening as I speak my melody. Going to a church does not make it a felony. Going to church for some is only a tradition. It is not a sign of Christian ambition. It is like Easter or Christmas day. It is no more than just a cultural way. Pastor Torch, I have a question about Mr. Sun for you. Besides going to the services, was there anything else he volunteered to do? Pastor Torch He only went to our services on Sunday. He just came, sat in the pew, and ran away. He didn’t talk to anyone about the Lord or help set up. He did not even help pass around the communion bread and cup. Mr. Fry: Thank you Pastor Torch, you may now leave. I have another witness up my sleeve. I am now going to put up there on the spot. The defendant’s close friend and coworker Mr. Hot. Narrator: Mr. Hot came in with a slow beat. Pastor Torch got off of the stand, and Mr. Hot took the seat. Mr. Fry: Mr. Hot, is it true that you are a coworker and friend. To the defendant Mr. Sun or should we amend. Mr. Hot: I am his coworker and friend. I will be there for him till the end. Mr. Fry: Mr. Hot. Have you ever heard Mr. Sun. Talk to anyone about God or Jesus His Son? Mr. Hot: About God and Jesus, he never did speak. And I sit next to his cubicle every day, every week. On Friday’s after work, we would go to the bar. All we would talk about is sports and his car. Everyone at the office will gladly testify. They never heard him speak about God. They all would comply. Mr. Fry: Thank you Mr. Hot, you may go. Here concludes the end of my show. MS. Heat: The Jury will now go in the back. They will review the evidence intact. Narrator: The jury went into the back room. Would Mr. Sun get good news or doom? The Evidence: By Brian Hollop Part II Narrator: After an hour the jury was back in court to see. Jury: We give the defendant Mr. Sun a not guilty plea. Ms. Heat: The verdict is out for everyone to know. Mr. Sun, you are free to go. Narrator: Later Mr. Sun spoke with Mr. Fry. For someone free, he was not happy and ready to cry. Mr. Sun: Mr. Fry, If I am not a Christian guy. Then I wonder who am I. Mr. Fry: You people are all the same. You claim that you know Jesus’s name. If you really loved Him, take it from me. You would have went in there with a guilty plea. If you really believed in Heaven, you wouldn’t have denied. You would have stood boldly even if you died. If you truly believed his love and healing were true. You wouldn’t care about what others thought of you. When your life is not on the line, you talk the talk But how many of you really walk the walk? Excuse me Mr. Sun, I have to go. Narrator: To Mr. Sun, this was quite a blow. Mr. Fry walked off to his next case. Mr. Sun turned to the Lord and began to embrace. Mr. Sun: Lord forgive me for denying You. Forgive me for not standing for what is true. All this time I thought if I went to church , had a Bible, Christian stuff. And if I was a good person, I thought that would be enough. Lord, I now realize that being a Christian means so much more. Please fill me with your Spirit and boldness right down to the core. So that I could proclaim to others about You. Please change my life and make it anew.
