The Festival in Belen is a benefit for Valencia County - TopicsExpress

The Festival in Belen is a benefit for Valencia County Veterans. As it happens there had been a shortage of help for Vets in Valencia County so this festival became the inspiration for a Veterans Center that is kicking off it’s opening at 10:30 am the day of the festival. The Ceremony includes statements from Mayor Rudy Jaramillo, followed by statements from Senator Michael Sanchez, NM Department of Veterans Services Cabinet Secretary Tim Hale, and Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Regional Director Chris Norton and George Marnell VA Medical Center Director. The Los Lunas High School ROTC will present the colors and the Belen High School Band will perform the National Anthem. Please be generous in your donations for this very important Veterans Center. You get a free raffle ticket for every $5 donation. In addition to cash donations they have bins for donations of necessities for homeless Vets. So please bring an extra tube of toothpaste, new socks or protein bars. Requested items: personal items such as soap, deodorant, wet wipes, shampoo / conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sun screen, insect repellant, new underwear, new or gently used socks, T shirts, hats, backpacks or reusable cloth bags. Also: Beef Jerky, peanut butter, protein bars & bottled water. Come and enjoy the music, but do a good thing while you are there and help the folks that help keep us free. Judy
